Pizza of the month, March

I know what you are thinking now.
Isn’t this post a little late?
Yes, it is.
And I have no excuse except bad planning.
But better late than never. So here it comes.

PIZZA OF THE MONTH, MARCH

As I mentioned in my previous Pizza Of The Month post, I have committed myself to create a pizza every month with toppings from leftovers I can find in my fridge or freezer. I will do this to reduce my food waste that is a global problem of enormous dimensions.
Roughly a third of the food produced in the world, about 1.3 billion ton, gets wasted every year.

When I raided the refrigerator, I found this:
3 slices of smoked ham, half a bell pepper, and a piece of Chevre cheese.
The ham and the Chevre had been around for a while, so it was high time to use them.
I also found a small piece of Mozzarella, but it was not enough, so I had to supplement with some other leftover cheese.

But just like last time, there was no pizza sauce in sight. So I had to go to the freezer again to see if I could find some crushed tomatoes.
Finally, I found half a package. Saved again by the freezer.

I used the same formula for the dough as last time. You can find the recipe here.

CONCLUSION

My wife and I loved this pizza, but the children were not entirely convinced, especially not my son who is the youngest in the family.
Chevre has a quite profound taste, and if you don’ like it, perhaps you should replace it with something else.

I’m not claiming that this pizza is any masterpiece by any means, but I do think it looks a little bit better than last month. Perhaps I’m starting to get the hang of it.
